Welcome to ‘Meet The Abunai! Staff’, a column in which you’ll be introduced to our staff members. Staff members, they’re just like people! We’d love for you to get more acquainted with our dear volunteers and to accomplish this, they graciously agreed to be interviewed after I threatened them. Discover the outstanding Jurry, who’s equally amazing as Prizes and Gifts staff and Visitor Services staff. He’s also half of the satiric panel Your Anime Sucks. What a triple threat that guy.
Tell us a bit about yourself!
I’ve held various positions within the organisation. Visitor Services still fits me the best. I love troubleshooting and helping out others. I skipped being a gopher or a staff support and applied way back in 2006. I’ve been part of the staff ever since. I’ve seen Abunai grow rapidly since that day. Like, a lot.
I guess I’m not a guy to be tied down to one position, I like to keep in touch with everyone within the organisation and help out where I can.
What do you like most about (your position at) Abunai?
Being in touch with our visitors, helping out with issues and seeing how we improve ourselves to better suit their needs.
What’s your favorite Abunai! memory?
I’ve made many memories in these 12 years. Picking just one of them is pretty hard. I guess it was clean-up last year. Two of my colleagues took charge of communications and everything just clicked, running like a well-oiled machine. It was a great experience.
Do you prefer weeb or otaku?
I’m Old-Taku. Go ahead. Look it up. I’ll wait.
If you were a magical girl, what style would your outfit be and what would your power be?
The power to transform into anyone or anything I need or want to be, couple with extreme fighting prowess. I’ll go ahead and blame Go Nagai for that one.
Playstation, PC, Xbox, or Nintendo?
Any console or handheld that has some good games. I’ve had two generations of Playstation (1 and 2), Two generations of X-Box (360 and One), a gameboy, a DS classic and a 3DS.
If you were to write a self-insert fic, to which anime/manga/game would you transport yourself to? And with which character would you start a relationship? Juden Sentai Gekiranger, Because I love the main female villain, Meelee. Her devotion to the main villain is inspiring, she’s redeemed by the end of the show and has a great arc.
