Dear visitors, there is no joy in delivering bad news, but it must be done. We hereby formally announce that the next edition of Abunai! will be moved from August 2021 to February 2022. Abunai! 2022: The Good, The Bad and the Cheeky will be held in the weekend of 18, 19, 20 February 2022 at NH Koningshof Veldhoven.

We have chosen to move because of the organisational risks. There is still a mighty possibility that the speed of the vaccine programme is not where it has to be this summer for Abunai! to take place as is tradition. Organising a convention with COVID-19 measures such as 1.5 metre distance between attendees is not feasible. Who would even want that? Touch starvation, to be so close yet not allowed to reach out, is scalding agony.

The assistance plan from the Dutch government is not a feasible option for us. It is true that 80% will be reimbursed, but the remaining 20% is still a loan. As the ancient Dutch proverb goes: Caution! Borrowing money costs money.

And thus, we have weighed the pros, weighed the cons and ended up making this difficult decision. Why February? For a multitude of reasons, including the availability of our venue. We sincerely strive to deliver a top notch experience for all, be it in the blazing summer sun or the …who even knows what weather it is in February anymore, what with global warming and everything.

Every problem is an opportunity in disguise. Behind the scenes it has been tough to work on a convention when everyone around you is entirely unsure of what we can actually plan. Now with the new date, we hope both visitors and partners are less hesitant to fully commit to Abunai! whether as an active participant or welcome voyager. As preparations proceed  we hope to keep you more and more informed. Normally we bulk announce our programme, but for now we’re planning to drip-drop announce tidbits of our programme to keep y’all going.

Now, to the details: You can choose to keep your previously bought ticket, which is automatically valid for the new date in 2022.

If you wish to get your money back, as is your right, you can of course refund your ticket by logging into your account, clicking on ‘Orders’ and then clicking on the ‘Refund’ button. After you’ve clicked the refund button, your request will be processed the next working day at the latest, and it may take 1-3 working days for the money to be in your bank account. Refunds are done automatically and may take up to a week.

If you wish for your ticket to be valid for Abunai! 2022, you do not need to take any action. Your received invoice/ticket, even if it states 2020 or 2021, will be valid for our 2022 date. Tickets will remain on sale and valid for the new date.

Our various teams will be in touch with those involved, such as dealers/artists, event organisers, etc. Please expect an e-mail with specific information related to your situation shortly.

If you have any specific questions and wish to reach out: If you signed up for one of our competitions, please get in touch with your Abunai! contact. If you applied to be part of our events programme, our Game Room, etc., please get in touch with your Abunai! contact. If you applied for our dealer room or artist alley, please contact our Dealer Team for further information. If you applied for a gopher or steward position, please contact our gopher manager. For general inquiries, please contact us

NH Koningshof hotel room bookings are entirely handled by NH Koningshof itself. When NH Koningshof is ready to take your booking, we will announce the opening of their hotel room sale accordingly.

Please endure, for a few months more.

Love & Peace!
The Abunai! Team
